Life’s Lessons From Those in Need
So the question you must ask yourself sometimes is this: When we stop to help a homeless person- a man who is hungry, with no money, no home, no means for a job, and a family that he cant support- and we buy him dinner for his family.. Are we helping him or in some ways does he change us forever?
So many of them we pass by everyday wondering.. will they really use this money and do the right thing? For me it’s an easy option. If I have the money I’m gonna stop and help out. Will he use it to better himself in a way i approve of? Maybe.. Maybe not. But what if I don’t stop and that man is on his last leg of hunger before he disappears from this world? I don’t want that on me for the rest of my life. It’s not that hard to help out a person in need, especially when we have everything we need, and so many things we want. I think I can give up a few of those wants to help a person in need.
Do you ever listen to that thankfulness in their voice when you are able to help? To them, you are the best part of that day. You are the world to them, even if to you they are nothing. How many people do you know that have everything but will never let a thank you slip from their mouths? These people have nothing to live for, but they know how far a thank you may go. Listen to the earnest in their voice. Listen to the words they say. You may learn something new.
Maybe that is just a man who is too lazy to get out and find a job, or maybe thats Jesus seeing who will stop and help in a time of need. Think about it.
